Just when you think it was safe to listen to the radio you hear the most insensitive remarks.
In case you haven’t heard Michael Savage has declared that "autistic children" are brats. The Michael Savage radio show reaches millions of people each week. He as always been a controversial host but these comments puts him in rarefied territory.
As moms of children on the spectrum you have every right to be outraged. So its time to pop open the can of whoop a^% on this guy. Comment below and let people know what you think.

I think that Michael Savage is as ignorant as he is annoying. As the mother of both an Autistic child and a child with ADHD I am disgusted. If you have not experienced what life is like with an autistic child or an adhd kid then you have no business saying anything about these disorders. I love my children with all my heart. I wouldn’t trade them for anything, regardless of how difficult it is. My two year old has Autism. She is not a Brat, actually she is quite the opposite, she is sweet and loving, however she cannot control what she does in some cases. She has very limited word usage and cannot communicate her needs. If I was her I would be pissed off and throw a tantrum every now and then. As parents of Autistic children we sometimes rely on hunches in order to give our kids what they need. My child is on the mild side of the spectrum, I can’t imagine how difficult it would be if she was on the more severe side. I guess what I am trying to say is that not all of us are on unemployment and not everyone with children who are Autistic are looking for a handout. We just do the best we can and juggle therapists and doctors appointments. We go to genetisits, neurologists, developmental pediatricians, regular pediatricians, audiologists and have OTs, STs and PTs. Trust me it does get expensive and time consuming so if there are some people out there who need the help, shut up and let them have it. IT IS HARD! I guess it would be difficult for Michael Savage to understand as he is obviously perfect and could only produce perfect and well behaved pod children! God Bless all of you with children with disabilites.
A person like this is probably jealous that he has absolutely NO REASON for his behavior, so he has to cut down those that he can. All I can say is, yes it is truely hurtful and I would love to verbally beat him down, but reality is….what goes around comes around but it will probably bite him in his ASS ten times as hard, and I can’t wait to hear about it. His day will come, folks, his day will come. I really don’t want to waste too much time over someone like him, so I just keep in mind that HIS DAY WILL COME!
It is sad when unnecessary ignorance is exposed but I learned many years ago that you have but one response to anything, anyone says. If it is true, why be offended. If it’s not true, why be offended. Shock jocks would have no jobs if they didn’t attempt to shock the public. More people tune in, awaiting an ignorant statement so they can defend the defenseless. Two groups of people listen to people such as Mr Savage, Mr Imus and Mr Stern, those that enjoy the turmoil and those wasting their time attempting to convince the jocks to be something other than what they are. In this wonderful country of America, we have the freedom to express or views, either intelligently or ignorantly. My son is Autistic and the joy of my life. Nothing will ever change that.
a thought occurred to me,please excuse my simplicity. if a child slept such that his/her head was higher than the body,heavy metals such as mercury & lead woul be inclined to flow to the lower parts of the body,away from the brain. if the persistence of heavy metals within the brain interferes with its normal performance perhaps something as simple as this might work. i dont know how long this flushing of the brain might take as i dont know if it would work at all. a child does sleep a lot horizontally.
People like Michael have no idea what reallity is. He should be made to sit through ALL seminars about Autism and the way these children “act” They are NOT acting Sir. ( I use that term VERY loosely) It is the way our children are. Maybe if he would take the time to get to know an Autistc child, he might better understand. (But I doubt it!)
