I’m very excited about this whole upcoming teleseminar but most of all I’m interested in the presentation by Mark Woodsmall on writing IEP’s. Lots of times when I, the SEIT teacher, receive a copy of the assigned IEP,
I think to myself “Did the person who wrote this even look at this child?”
The majority of the goals are so unrealistic compared to where the child’s current level of function is and need to be broken down into much more manageable steps in order for the child to be successful. After all, it is the teacher’s purpose to foster the child’s success in order to keep him/her motivated.
I am interested in what these people have to stay. I guess I will comment more after the conference takes place
I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity. I live in a small rural community. The birds don’t even like to fly all the way out here! This is a real opportunity and I am anxious to take advantage of it. Plus, I can wear my pj’s!
As a special ed teacher, autistic children are frequently placed in my classroom. Even though I have certification in working with mentally impaired and learning disabled, I would like to know more about autistic children and their specific needs.
I’m very glad to find out about this conference. I had received a no cost registration to the 3 day USAAA conference in Austin, TX the first week of September, but it might as well been on Mars. We do not have the money for either the hotel or airfare.
Thanks for making this affordable for our large family of ASD children.
I have a beautiful 5 yr old son with autism. He will be attending a special program in a regular school come this fall. To say the least, I am so stressed out about this. Knowing how he reacts to a different schedule is making me very sad. He won’t understand why he is not going to his regular school that he has been attending for the last 2 years. His developmental therapist has been with him since he has been 2.5 and that will end shortly. I am anxious to here what everyone has to say, I’m hoping it will make me feel better about the whole transition.
Truly,
Lynne, Mom of Allan
I think this is a great opportunity to get some answers from some great people.I’ve been struggling with my 4 year old and doctors for over 2 years.I would love to ask others their opinion.I am looking foward to asking questions about kindergarten and what I should expect. This is a great idea!
I am about to embark on a cfgf doet for my son so this presentation will be just what I need. I have read Chantel’s page in Autism File very informative!
I haave a lot to learn and look forward to learning as much as I can. Thankyou.
Maria
I am excited about this conference. It is hard to scedule sitter’s exspnse to get to alot of these conference’s.
I am looking forward to this hope to see more in the future.
I am excited about this. hope to see more.
This conference call came just in time as my daughter’s pediatric neuropsychologist just made realize that my daughter has not received the appropriate therapy reason why her improvement has been so slow.
The doctor said I might need a lawyer to help my daughter with all the services she need. My daugther was first diagnosed as Aspergers and all she got was speech therapy. Now after tones of evaluations (the last 3 with the doctor mentioned above) she is diagnosed PDD and the doctor said if she would’ve been getting the right services at age 4 instead of fighting for them now at age 7 the difference would’ve been noticeable!!!
I hope we can get new ideas and techniques that could help our child..
I wanted to know if you could or have any Ideas on how to help a student in my class with a lot of sensory needs to his head. he can get very intence at times. he will grab you by your legs and put a death grip on you , and he won’t let go. it gets pretty hard at times
I am very excited for this! My son was just diagnosed, and I think this will be a great learning opportunity for my husband and I. We are hoping to learn so much about how to help Ryan.
I am eager to hear what they have to say and learn more about children on the spectrum. I have 2 boys ages 9 and 10, bothon the spectrum and they differ greatly. One has PDD, the other Aspergers.
So, it will be interesting to hear and learn more information, particularly the IEP process and the services for the children with these issues.
This was a great idea.
Many thanks ,
I can’t really comment except to say I have never done a telephone conference so I don’t know how it works but I am looking forward to getting some new information pertinent to a 12 year old with autistic disorder.
My nine year old daughter was just diagnosed with autistic disorder (high functioning. She also has severe receptive-expressive language disorder, articulation disorder, status post complex partial seizures, etc.
I am learning all I can about this disorder. Our school is very small. Even though they have a very good special education program they have not had an autistic child in a while. Her teacher has also just started teaching and has no idea what IEP means or anything. So I am going to be very busy this year and will need alot of information to give to the teacher and school administration.
I am also interested in autism and seizures and how they are connected.
I am really looking forward to the Helpful Educational Therapies presentation. I work as a Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS, Wrap-Around) for Northwest Human Services and we see a large number of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Overall, whole conference should be very informative.
I’m really interested in hear about the wheat free diet, and what to expect now that I have children entering Jr. High School.
we r parents from India seeking your help, as because after so many attempts we are unable to subscribe though we are interested with the package as we think it will provide us a handsome tool to fight autism
I believe this is an excellent opportunity, I wish we had this in Ontario Canada, I have struggled for 5 years in my sons school system, they just don’t get it, they continually send him home, he has been called names by teachers and EA’s, has had these so called professionals put their hands on him. Last year he was pretty much ostrasized from the classroom, lunch recess and joining the school sports. so I truly believe this will be and awesome opportunity for myself and many other parents of children in the Autism Spectrum. Thank you
I’m excited! I hope to gain a lot information that will help my childs transition to kindergarten smoother. Thanks for providing this conference. I always have so much anxiety each school year. Thanks again.
My son is 13 yoa. He is starting 7th grade and very nervous. Last school year was a nightmare. He is diagnosed with OCD and ADDHD with symptions of Asperger’s Syndrome. He has been tested by someof the best specialists in the world. He started in parochial school, but they were not able to “handle” him. He has been in the public school system since 3rd grade. His test scores don’t at all match his “Great” report cards…..just pushing him through the system. I’m currently have him tested with a new pychologist to get him placed in a better school. I’m looking forward to this tremendously…thank you.
I am very excited about this confernce call, this call will help us educate ourselves as to what we are doing wrong. I really want my step-son’s dad to be a part of this conference call. I have invited him to join in.
Thank you for arranging this call with the experts in which they also have kids with autism. I can not wait to hear the expertise and what we can learn from their knowledge.
What I want to know is if the Nutrition part, such as gluten free foods and wheat free really do help kids with autism.
I can not wait! Thank you so much for inviting me to this conference call.
I have a 3 1/2 year old who is in the Autisim spectrum and I am very excited to learn about her educationa and dietary needs. I can’t travel so this phone conference is wonderful!
Thanks for inviting me!
I am very excited about this. There are so few golden opportunities like this, I truly hope everyone who can takes advantage of it. I am looking forward to gaining knowledge that will help me be the best advocate for my son that I can be.
I’m excited about the conference, and eager to hear what the panelist has to say, we need more forums like this to help moms, doing all the research on our own can be pretty daunting and overwhelming. So thanks this is a great idea.
Oh my I don’t know what to say. This seems to good to be true and totally a GIFT from the LORD. I have bee searching and searching for info on Autism. There is ALOT out there but who do you trust. My son is 6 and dx with ADHD/ODD Autism….I am excited to hear what the professionals have to say about it. I am especaily interested in the IEP seminar. This will give me heads up and what to look out for.

I was so looking foward to the topic of discussion today (25th). Unfortunately the first day of school was today in Md. My daughters bus was 45 minutes late so I did not make the call. Rest assured I have a contengency plan for the rest of the week. But thank you so much for taking the time to do something like this for us busy moms.
I was glued to the webcast last night, very informative and covered a wide range of topics, thanks for making it possible for me to attend one. I’m excited for the upcoming conferences as well.
