Need free PECS?

Here are my resources related to PECS.  If a link is broken, remo= ve any blank spaces from the address and try again.  If it still doesn= 't work, let me know.

www.pdictionar= y.com - Here is a link to a free picture dictionary.  All the= pictures have a white background and a similar simple style, so they could= easily be used for PECS.  The pictures are pretty small, but I found = that I could enlarge them in my document without losing much sharpness.

http:= //trainland.tripod.com/pecs.htm - Lots of links to sources for fre= e pecs.

http://elearning.autism.net/visuals/main.php?g2_itemId=3D= 37 - Lots of PECS materials in English and French.  (originally po= sted by "teacher").

http://ww= w.setbc.org/pictureset/ - lots of PECS materials.

http:= //www.howitis.org.uk/browse.htm - specializing in b&w images of fee= lings, rights/safety, personal care, sexuality, and general vocabulary (als= o originally posted by "teacher").

http://www.somerset.gov.uk/stcsymbols/default.asp - free s= ymbol library with 3,000 symbols.  Registration needed.  Recommen= ded by our member "teacher".

http://www.parentingyourcomplexchild.com/schedules.html&n= bsp;- shows examples of how this family uses PECS in situations they encoun= ter daily.  These examples are then used to train others who work with= their son.  They show the PEC (photo of the child doing the acti= vity), they say with words what it means (for example "It's time to wa= sh your hands") and they cue the activity in specific ways.

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art46735.asp - various = PECS links (note:  the majority seem to be for products, but some= are free)

http://www.picsearch.com/ - search engine for images, not = official pecs.

www.images.g= oogle.com - search engine for images, not official pecs.

http://www.visualaidsforlearning.com/products/index.htm&n= bsp;- sets of free visuals in various themes and for various age groups.

Any other resources?

Autistas.Org - PECS - Si= stema de Comunica=E7=E3o por Figuras para Autistas - I know= , this is in another language, but the PECS are in English.

Do2Learn: Educational Resources for Special Needs -= Good basic site if you want free, better if you are willing to pay a yearl= y fee.

Life Skills Materials&n= bsp;- This one lead me to some of my favorite PEC sites.

Grocery Pecs, Autism Pec Symbols, Picture Exchange Comm= unication System- Just a few free ones, but a few is more than n= one when you are starting.

Wondering what words/symbols to teach first?  This site tells you whi= ch words typical infants and toddlers learn first.  Select langua= ge (English or Spanish).  You can choose what info to display and in w= hat order, for example arrange by frequency or by word group.

In Norway, someone made an 132 page communication book in Boardmake= r, using this website as their inspiration.

On each two page spread they had the same set of basic words o= n one side  (words like I, you etc) and a selection of words from one = of the word groups on the other side.  The word groups are:

- Sound effects and animal sounds

- Outside things and places to go

- People

- Games and routines

- Action words

- Descriptive words

- Words about time

- Pronouns

- Question words

- Quantifiers

- Animals (real or toy)

- Vehicles (real or toy)

- Toys

- Food and drink

- clothing

- Body parts

- Small household items

- Furniture and rooms

This website was my inspiration to build Picto Selector, it turned out t= o be a very usefull freeware tool for the creation of visual schedules= with those symbols.

I've translated all it's symbols to english (on the website not all of t= hem were translated)

It also includes the Mulberry and Arasaac symbols for a total of 16= 000 freely usable symbols! It is translated to dutch, english, french and G= erman. A lot of them are also translated to portuguese, brazilian (pt), ita= lian and hungarian.

(I hope to meet more people who want to translate it to other languages)=

Hopefully someone here will use this information to post it in the = resource topics. I hesitate to do so, because i've just joined this forum.<= /p>So beautiful sharing!Thank you very much.
