I think Allegra's family is participating in a facial study. I'm sure I remember
her talking about having Sharlet's photo taken for a study? This is really interesting. I've often thought that there is a classic autism look - they tend to be really attractive and look young. I didn't understand all the things listed there but he has the ones that I did get! I hope there is more research into this.
Too bad this is a video you have to buy. If you find any articles or online videos by Buehler, please let us know. This is very interesting.
I've got to say that my son was a bald baby and has big ears. It's hard to say if he meets the other criteria.
From what i understand they have to have a certain NUMBER of the features, such as 8 to 10 COMBINED. Everyone may have 1, 2, or 3. Does that make sense? LOL Also he did mention that these doctors are highly trained to recognize these features as they have to also be genetisist (gentists? I forgot the word for that). I agree, take it w a grain of salt but after seeing the images he put on the slide show and how he explained it, man you could really see the similarities!I know that many genetic disorders present with dysmorphia (many doctors use FLK on the file, "funny lookin kid", to denote this). However, my son has none of the features you posted. Nor do any of the PDD-NOS kids I personally know. I know of classically autistic kids who have many of these features, though. Could your list be from studies of kids who have the medical diagnosis of autism as opposed to the other ASD disorders?Very interesting, thanks for posting. Both my kids have 3 of those. J- got eye brows last year (not joking) and I'm worried about them. They came in dark, I've started shaving the middle. I just don't want her to get picked on more than she has been. My grandson has none of those features. In fact some are just the opposite. My boys have none of them either, they are just the opposite in many of them too. I wonder if that's the PDD-NOS that Tzoya mentioned, although they are diagnosed as classic autism although I do not at all agree with that, I think he mainly did that to ensure they get help. Technically they would fall better under PDD-NOS, they don't fit all the criteria for classic autism. So maybe that's why they don't have those features? Very interesting though, I would love to read more about it.I have to admit, I must look up some of the words, don't have time right now, but my first thought when I read this was that my kids have the same features (though they are fraternal twins) and only 1 is ASD. I was always adamant nobody gets to pluck, shave, or otherwise mangle my eyebrows even if I got chased around the house with tweezers. I did consent to bleaching/etc of other facial hair, and shaving of my legs, but only with a fight, and not anymore (so now I have a nice scraggly goatee :-) ).
gtto question -
who is the picture on your name/profile? obviously not you!
my son definately has has this thick hair and his hair line doesn't end in the back, it goes straight down to his waist. even in the front, his hairline almost comes to his eyebrows. I think that is genetic though, I have some hairy family members The MD I saw speak today, also head of research and genetics at the Omaha Monroe Meyer Institute, and here is also a link to ONE of his many videos I happen to find in Google: http://www.amazon.com/Who-Children-Being-Born-Today/dp/18879 43064 http://www.amazon.com/Who-Children-Being-Born-Today/dp/18879 43064Wow thats pretty cool. I didnt understand alot of what the features were tho
P.S. Do you think my son has any of those features? I need to look alot of those words up but since you know I thought Id ask you Thisi s fascinating - thanks for sharing
I have most of those things. Philtral ridges are actually those two lines that run from your nose to your mouth on the outside, not anything to do with your palate.
hmmm... interesting, probably needs a little more time to really be proven accurate, the correlation is quite interesting if such a connection truly exists, this type of recognition is still new undoubtedly and I think should be taken with a grain of salt at least for the time being.

I did not understand much, and cant really see a ton abnormal with me then others other then a very thin figure that is definatly abnormal but number 5 and number 10 is absolutly visible in the mirror, thats all I could find or see... interesting non the less... but I see those characterics in many people.
