My kids eat ketchup all the time, but I haven't noticed any hyperactivity afterwards.
Tomatoes and thus ketchup do contain natural histamines, so they can make allergies symptoms and eczema flare up.
I don't see any artificial colorings or preservatives in our Norwegian Heinz ketchup, and it says glutenfree on the bottle, so I don't know what would be causing a hyper reaction.
Keep observing -- maybe there's something about extra-ketchup situations which is triggering him.
I haven't noticed anything either - but I'll pay more attention now! Thanks for bringing it up. I didn't know that tomatoes and ketchup can make allergy symptoms flare up!All condement Daniel should avoid cause of corn syrup/vinegar both alleries for him. hmmm... i have a weird katchup story, tho i suppose its pretty basic. When I was little I would eat it, then about 7-8 I suddenly decided i hated catchup and never used it again until JUST THIS YEAR!! I went the majority of my life not eating it even tho i had no problem when I was little... ahhhh has nothing to do with your story i know... maby its an ASD thing with the stuff because I took my parents out to dinner 1 night and had katchup on my fries and they inquired about it because they had not seen me eat the stuff since I was little and refused it after that... hehe.I know this may seem like a silly question, but I am just starting to notice when my son has a good amount of ketchup with his chicken nuggets, he seems to get very hyper with sudden fast movements and and talking complete nonsense. I'm just trying to see if there is a link to this behaviour and if anyone else has an issue with ketchup? I used to break out in hives with tomato products (ketchup), strawberries and red food coloring.
Like tomatoes, strawberries also have natural histamines -- which might explain the hives.
Daniel's Mom --
How did you figure out that your son is allergic to corn syrup and vinegar? Just curious, since my kids have allergic tendencies but not everything is covered in allergy tests.
